FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

We are nuts about our customers and take your health and wellness seriously.   We believe in full transparency in our processes, our challenges and our sourcing.   We hope the following questions and answers will help you get to know us a bit better.

Sprouting Information

What is does "sprouted" and "activated" mean?

Sprouting or activating is a process that merely finishes Mother Nature's germination process. Nuts and seeds are harvested before they can finish their germination so we do it for them. Our special soaking, rinsing and air-drying process unlocks nutrients for your body to use. This process breaks down the anti-nutrients and acids which allows your body to better absorb the good nutrients. Many report that sprouted nuts and seeds are easier to digest and have a unique and addictive crunch and flavor.

Do you use filtered water to soak nuts and seeds?

Yes, the water we use for soaking is run through a filtration system to filter contaminants and particulates.

Facilities, Allergens and Certification

What allergens are produced in your facility?
Our facility is gluten-free, vegan, and we do not process soy, animal products or peanuts in our facility. We do process tree nuts and coconut in our facility.

What certifications do your products carry?
Our facility and products are certified USDA Organic. We handcraft our products in a facility that is gluten-free and vegan.

Are your products non-gmo?
Yes, in order for a product to be certified organic it is also has to be non-gmo.

Where are your products produced?
We produce all of our products in our own facility in beautiful Ojai, California. We have a small family of employees that are dedicated to making healthy foods.

Products & Packaging Questions

Are your sprouted nuts and seeds raw?

We consider our products to be raw as they are air-dried at low temperatures and are not subjected to high heat processing.  The temperatures vary by nut and seed but they always stay under temperatures that the FDA sets for products to be considered raw.

What is the origin of our pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds?

We source our pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds from Bulgaria and the Ukraine.

Are your nuts and seeds pasteurized?

All of our nuts and seeds are raw and have not been roasted or exposed to high heat for a prolonged period of time.   Our almonds have been exposed to steam for the purposed of pasteurization though the FDA still considers them raw as very few nutrients are lost in this process.

Sustainability

Are your products in recyclable bags?

Nuts and seeds need to be packaged in air tight packages made with films that have a strong oxygen barrier. Having a strong barrier allows the nuts and seeds to stay fresh. The packaging industry is innovating and working hard to find recyclable solutions that have these strong barriers. We are currently testing the newest films to see if they will protect your nuts and seeds.

In the meantime we have sourced packages that are made from recycled materials called post consumer recycled packaging. This allows us to be good to the Earth while ensuring our products are delicious for you to enjoy.

We are implementing many strategies to do our part to keep the Earth safe. Recycling, purchasing recyclable boxes printed with Algae ink, riding our bikes to work, and offering bulk purchasing options.

All of our sprouted nuts and seeds are now in post consumer recycled bags and our granola are in recyclable #7 bags. We continue to work with packaging experts to find recyclable / compostable solutions that provide the barrier our products require.

Please contact us if you'd like to have a conversation about our efforts towards sustainability. We always love to her from you.
